Did you know that April 19 is National Garlic Day? It’s a day promoting the many uses of that great flavoring that makes food taste so good. The fear of garlic is alliumphobia, and vampires probably suffer greatly from this.

Garlic is also known as “The Stinking Rose”. I guess that certainly goes with its nature–love the taste but sometimes hate the smell. Garlic also has many health benefits as well. It is believed to have phytochemicals that protect against heart disease and stomach cancer. It lowers blood cholesterol levels and reduces plaque buildup in arteries. Some home remedies even suggest it as a viable treatment for acne and warts. Since garlic is so tasty, there’s no reason not to add a little more to your diet, just in case!

The flavors in garlic are sharpest when its raw and they mellow when cooked or roasted. Roasted garlic spread onto a toasted piece of French bread goes well with pasta or just as a snack.

Hip to Who? has just the right garlic designs to help you celebrate National Garlic Day. You could wear garlic shirts to the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California on July 25-27, 2008. Or you could use garlic note cards or garlic greeting cards to send out recipes for your trademark lasagne or garlic chicken, and use a garlic journal to keep all your garlic recipes in one place. Or you could just use them all to ward off vampires.

Don’t forget to check out all of the other great items at the Hip to Who? shop. We have gift items and apparel for any occasion–or no occasion at all.
